2023 Wichita Corporate Challenge Recap: Congratulations Koch Industries!

The 2023 Wichita Corporate Challenge came to a thrilling conclusion as companies from across the city battled it out in a variety of sports and activities, all in the name of friendly competition, community spirit, and a chance at corporate glory. Over 14 days, teams showcased their athleticism and teamwork, and the results are in, with Koch Industries taking the crown for the best overall score of the 33 competing teams.

Four divisions, decided by employee size, make up the Wichita Corporate Challenge. Let’s take a closer look at the exciting outcomes in each division.

Division 1: Grant Thornton Takes the Crown

Division 1 featured some well-known Wichita companies, including the Alzheimer’s Association, Black Hills Energy, Chicken N Pickle, Grant Thornton, Lampton Welding Supply, Paradigm, Pinion, and Visit Wichita/ASM Global. In the end, it was Grant Thornton who emerged as the division champion, showcasing their excellence in various events. Grant Thornton secured first place in golf, the women’s under 30 age group 1-mile run, the men’s under 30 age group 1-mile run, the men’s 31-40 age group 1-mile run, 3v3 women’s basketball, dodgeball, 3v3 soccer, and flag football, accumulating a total of 368 points.

Division 2: POET Biofuels Seizes Victory

In Division 2, a fierce battle unfolded among Forvis, LKA-LC, Max Aerostructures, Mel Hambelton Ford, POET Biofuels, Vermillion Inc., Vornado Air, and Wichita State Athletics. POET Biofuels emerged as the division champions, demonstrating their prowess in a range of events. POET Biofuels secured first place in cornhole, softball, all the women’s 1-mile runs, the men’s 45+ age group 1-mile run, the men’s 45+ age group 100-meter dash, 3v3 men’s basketball, and volleyball, amassing a total of 338 points.

Division 3: Lange Companies Triumph

Division 3 showcased Credit Union of America, Emprise Bank, Equity Bank, Fidelity Bank, Infosync Services, J.P. Weigand & Sons, Inc., Lange, and Leading Technology Composites. Lange Companies proved their mettle by securing first place in golf, bowling, pickleball, darts, softball, men’s 100-meter 31-40 age group, tug of war, 3v3 women’s basketball, dodgeball, and volleyball. Their exceptional performance led to a total of 359 points, making them the division champions.

Division 4: Koch Industries Dominates

Division 4 witnessed intense competition among Cargill, City of Wichita, Evergy, Intrust Bank, Johnson Controls, Koch Industries, NIAR, Spirit Aerosystems, and T-Mobile. The title came down to the final event, as Koch narrowly edged out Spirit for the division. Koch claimed first place in golf, mini-golf, bowling, pickleball, softball, tennis, women’s 1-mile run 31-40 age group, 3v3 women’s basketball, dodgeball, and volleyball. Their remarkable performance led to a total of 381 points, securing their position as division champions.

The Wichita Corporate Challenge is more than just a sporting event; it is also a great celebration of community and teamwork, plus friendly competition.
