The Greater Wichita Sports Banquet is an annual event that celebrates sports excellence in south-central Kansas. Awards presented include: Lynette Woodard High School Female Athlete of the Year; Barry Sanders High School Male Athlete of the Year; Junior College and College Female and Male Athletes of the Year; Professional Athlete of the Year and the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award.- The three finalists for each award are nominated by area athletic directors. The list of nominees was then given to a panel of the area sports media to narrow the list down to three finalists. This group also cast their final votes to select our winner in each category which will be announced at the banquet at the end of June.
