Wichita, KS – The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission is excited to announce a multi-year partnership with Opti-Life Vitality Club + Spa to serve as the presenting sponsor of the Wichita Corporate Challenge beginning this summer.

Located at the corner of 21st and Webb, Opti-Life Vitality Club + Spa is a revolutionary fitness center, luxury spa, and holistic wellness community. Co-Founders, Matt and Erika Lillie, explained, “Our dream was to build a place where people could go to become healthy and thriving, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well. A place where people could feel a true sense of community and feel loved for showing up exactly as they are. It is a place to feel welcomed, loved and supported. It is a place to exercise, rejuvenate, connect and self-nourish.  Opti-Life believes in the mission of the Wichita Corporate Challenge – which aims to build a sense of community between corporations through several competitive events. After all, we are all in this together”.

GWASC President/CEO Mike Sharpe shared, “We are thrilled to enter into this partnership with Opti-Life Vitality Club + Spa.  Their concept of holistic wellness for the community meshes well with the goals of the Wichita Corporate Challenge and will assist to heighten our community’s path toward vibrant health.”

Since 2002, the Wichita Corporate Challenge has grown to become the largest business-to-business athletic competition in the Wichita metro area. Small and large companies build team spirit, work together to achieve goals and network within the community.  In addition to small and large companies, Wichita Corporate Challenge serves as a common ground for governmental, educational, and professional organizations to meet in friendly competition.

This year’s Wichita Corporate Challenge is scheduled to begin August 16th and culminating on August 29th.  With 21 events/activities for companies to select from at venue locations throughout the Wichita community, teams have a large selection of options for their employees to compete against similar sized organizations.

The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission released the official watch list for the 2021 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award.  Sixty-nine catchers were nominated for the award by their schools. Because the award is given annually to the top division one collegiate catcher, the list will be updated to include other candidates until May 5, 2021.

The watch list will be narrowed down to the semifinalists, whom will be announced May 20, 2021. Ballots will be sent to the national voting committee at the end of May for a vote to determine the three finalists. The finalists will be announced June 7, 2021. A final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series. All finalists will be brought to Wichita and the winner will be announced at a date that is yet to be determined.

Because the Buster Posey Award strives to honor the top collegiate catcher in a season, a 2020 recipient was not named due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of the collegiate baseball season.
